The Swiss manufacturer is kicking off its vintage timepiece sales activity with a unique selection presented at the Carrousel at the Louvre next weekend.
Breitling Rewind au Reluxury & Barnes Pre-Loved Luxury Show
A Navitimer Mk2.2 from 1962, a Cosmonaute Mk6 from 1967, a Chrono-Matic Yachting from 1969… For the very first edition of its event Breitling Rewind, the watchmaker called on its Heritage department to curate nine exceptional watches dating from the 1950s to the 1990s.
Fully restored, these timepieces are presented for sale from November 15 to 17 as part of the Reluxury & Barnes show, Pre-Loved Luxury Show entirely dedicated to circular luxury. On site, visitors to the Breitling stand will also be able to discuss watchmaking know-how and the specificities of the watches on display with brand experts.
A traveling sale of vintage Breitling watches
After this Parisian trial, Breitling plans to organize a sale each year in a different country with the aim of uniting lovers of these historic models within an international community of collectors.
“Our customers’ growing interest in vintage watches demonstrates their desire to acquire unique and timeless pieces”remarks Edouard d’Arbaumont, Managing Director of Breitling for Southern Europe, while the Swiss second-hand watch market could be worth some 36 billion euros by 2030, or more than half of the new watch market.
To further strengthen the attractiveness around the Breitling Rewind project, sales will be exclusive to each event even if the brand invites interested parties to contact the Heritage department to “to express interest”.
This launch is part of the 140th anniversary of Breitling, which recently installed a pop-up concept on the Champs-Elysées in anticipation of the opening, a few meters away, of a new boutique during the next year.
