Accident at the grill during an ice hockey match in Kloten
There was an accident in the second half of the game between EHC Kloten and HC Davos. There were four injured, one of them seriously.

The accident occurred on Wednesday evening shortly after 9.30 p.m. in the Swiss Arena in Kloten. That was during the second half of the championship game between Kloten and Davos, as the EHC Kloten announced. According to Zurich cantonal police, there were four injured.
According to the cantonal police, gas leaked from a grill in a buvette in the stadium ring for reasons that were not clear. This eventually ignited, resulting in a flash of flames. Two women and two men who were working in the buvette at the time suffered serious and moderate injuries.
The seriously injured person is a 76-year-old employee of EHC Kloten.
Kloten CEO assures support
EHC CEO Anjo Urner was quoted in an initial statement: “We are all very affected by the accident on Wednesday evening. Our thoughts are with the injured employees and their families.” The focus in the next few days and weeks will be on supporting those affected as best we can. “We hope that everyone gets on the road to recovery as quickly as possible.”
Two women aged 19 and 61 and a 77-year-old man were moderately injured. After initial treatment by ambulance teams, everyone was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
The exact cause of the event is not clear and is being investigated by the fire investigation service of the Zurich Cantonal Police. The material damage caused is estimated at several thousand francs.
Together with the Zurich cantonal police, the Kloten fire department, the Kloten city police, the Bülach hospital rescue service and the paramedics from Schutz & Rescue Zurich with emergency doctors, the Limmattal hospital rescue service and representatives of the city of Kloten were on duty.
The game was subsequently brought to an end. Kloten lost 2:4.
