iQoo was one of the first Chinese manufacturers to launch a Snapdragon 8 Elite gaming phone. Thanks to Oryon cores developed in-house, Qualcomm’s new SoC is more efficient than the last generation iQoo 12. But the new SoC is not the only one contributing to this slowdown.
The all-new iQoo 13 is also equipped with a UFS 4.1 storage system which the company claims helps increase app installation speed by 50%. It would also offer a 36% increase in transfer speed. The brand has not explicitly mentioned the benchmark, but it is believed to be a comparison with UFS 4.0.
Also note that the official Chinese page mentions UFS 4.0 instead of UFS 4.0 mentions UFS 4.0 instead of 4.1. It’s possible that iQoo has rolled out a software update to unlock the true potential of the storage chip inside the phone.
Regardless, the claimed increase in storage speed is a major improvement over its predecessor. In fact, the iQoo 13 may even feel smoother than other Snapdragon 8 Elite models with UFS 4.0 storage.
This isn’t the only aspect where the iQoo 13 is ahead of the competition. The flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite phone is also equipped with LPDDR5X Ultra memory, which is said to offer a transfer speed of up to 9,600 Mbps. This could allow the phone to offer a more responsive gaming experience.
In comparison, other Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship phones, such as the OnePlus 13 and Xiaomi 15 have non-Ultra LPDDR5X RAM. Of course, it’s worth noting that these speed claims come more from the manufacturer, and it remains to be seen how they make the iQoo 13 stack up against the competition in real-world testing.
