Jabra launches even better wireless earbuds by upgrading to the next generation

Jabra has renewed its high-end headphones by promising better noise reduction and call quality, but also thanks to support for Bluetooth LE Audio.

The Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2

Last year, at the IFA in Berlin, the Danish manufacturer gave its wireless headphones a fresh look by unveiling two new references positioned in the high-end segment, the Jabra Elite 8 Active and Jabra Elite 10. Less than ten months later, two new pairs are taking over the firm’s high-end segment.

This Tuesday, Jabra indeed lifted the veil on the Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2. A first for the Danish manufacturer which had until then not offered a second iteration of its headphones, but was content to complete its range with Jabra Elite 3, Elite 4, Elite 7 Active or Elite 7 Pro.

Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 designed for sport

As for the Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2, obviously, we are in line with the previous Jabra Elite 8. We are therefore entitled to headphones that are particularly optimized for comfort and sports use. The headphones are sweat-resistant in addition to an IP54 certification against rain and splashes. They also benefit from a comfortable fit, even without support wings.

As for the new features brought by this second generation, we can cite better active noise reduction, announced as twice as powerful, but also better detection of wind noise. Jabra also says its headphones are better at picking up voice during calls thanks to six microphones. The headphones also benefit from Google Fast Pair pairing, multipoint Bluetooth compatibility, spatial audio management via Dolby Audio and Bluetooth LE Audio compatibility. Regarding autonomy, Jabra indicates that its headphones can work for eight consecutive hours with noise reduction.

Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 which focus on noise reduction

New flagship from Jabra, the new Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 take over from the Jabra Elite 10. They therefore focus, like their predecessors, not only on active noise reduction, but also on sound quality. The headphones benefit in particular from Dolby Atmos spatial audio with head movement tracking, active noise reduction announced as twice as effective, better call quality and a battery life of 6 hours with noise reduction. Obviously, we also find Google Fast Pair compatibility as well as multipoint Bluetooth management.

The main novelty of these two pairs of headphones is in terms of Bluetooth LE Audio compatibility. This will notably make it possible to connect the headphones to a central Source, for example in a museum or a sports hall, even if other headsets and earphones are also connected to them, thanks to the Auracast protocol. In addition to Bluetooth LE Audio, it will also be possible to connect the USB-C cable from the box to a wired Source, whether via USB-C or using a 3.5 mm jack adapter. A solution which is reminiscent of that of Bower & Wilkins, particularly with the Pi7.

Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 and Elite 8 Active Gen 2 pricing and availability

The Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 will be available in mid-June in titanium black, glossy black, cocoa, denim or white at a price of 279 euros.

For their part, the Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 will be available in navy blue, black, coral and olive at a price of 229 euros.
