It’s the most anticipated game of the decade, GTA 6 might not face any delays, even as GTA 5 continues to sell in the millions.

In 2025, there will be many video games in the console catalogs, but above all there will be Grand Theft Auto 6the launch of which has been confirmed by Take Two, owner of Rockstar, for the end of 2025.

The information is reassuring given the numerous rumors surrounding a possible postponement until 2026, but the publisher’s boss, Strauss Zelnick, explained during a question/answer session with investors that the release will be would do well at the end of 2025, despite the re-election of Donald Trump as President of the United States.

Donald Trump va-t-il retarder GTA 6?

Donald Trump’s return to business is indeed closely scrutinized. In 2018, Dan Houser, then co-president of Rockstar – which he has since left – explained to GQ that he was “grateful” not to leave Grand Theft Auto 6 under a Trump administration: “We really don’t know what we would do [si c’était le cas]let alone how upset people would be about what we would do.”

Now that Donald Trump is back in business, Strauss Zelnick wants to be reassuring about the planned schedule, but it is certain that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be closely scrutinized by political authorities. The Rockstar saga is in fact known for offering irreverent scenarios and possibilities, all while being in the shoes of criminals.

This will also be the case for this sixth episode, since we will play two people, a couple on the run and not hesitating to rob banks in what looks like Florida – a state held by conservative Republicans.

Even if GTA 6 is highly anticipated, Take Two could nevertheless take its time given the still significant popularity of its predecessor, GTA 5. Thanks to the success of GTA Onlineit has sold more than 205 million copies – including 5 million between July and September 2024. It represents almost 50% of the franchise’s total sales.
