Several complaints have been filed with the Brussels police concerning homophobic attacks that have occurred in recent weeks in the territory of the Brussels-West and Brussels-South police zones, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday. Several victims were contacted via a dating app. “Once they arrived at the meeting place, they were attacked by several attackers before receiving blows and insults. Some of them were also subject to theft under duress,” the spokesperson said.
At least 5 homophobic ambushes in the last two weeks in Brussels: it could be the work of one and the same gang of young executioners!
This is what happened last March to Cédric (not his real name), who agreed to testify to our colleagues at RTL. “He pushed me and told me to show what I had in my account,” he confides. “When I realized what was happening, I told myself that I was going to do everything I could to avoid being beaten up and get out of here in one piece. All that’s going on in your head at that moment is this. » Cédric had no choice but to give 300 euros to his attacker for the latter agreeing to let him go. “His threats were all clearly related to homosexuality, not anything else. We wonder if we can still live peacefully…”
According to Le Soir, at least five complaints were filed for these facts, which occurred during the last half of June. The procedure would be identical each time: “a meeting arranged – generally in a park – via a dating application popular with homosexual men, using a fake account”, reports the Belgian daily.
