“Hello, I'm calling about reducing your energy bill…” Calls like this, we receive them every day. A number is displayed, we answer when in doubt, and in the end, it smells like a scam. To avoid this inconvenience, Ryan Moreau, butcher in Rouen, developed a mobile application.
Butcher, he is developing an anti-spam app
“I thought about it last year, around December, while talking with a colleague,” recalls the 23-year-old. Like all of us, he too was bothered by these unwanted calls.
Butcher, Ryan has a side business. “I develop applications and video games. I learned self-taught. »
Numbers identified by the prefix
He therefore put his skills to use to develop Blocker Prefix. The principle is relatively simple: “The app collects the caller’s number to extract the first four numbers. Using the database published by the government, we can determine if this prefix is spam. If applicable, the call is blocked.
A list of prefixes is therefore already predefined in the application, but we can also manually add other numbers.
Prefix Blocker is an application free and, Ryan promises, “no data is collected and there is no advertising”. On the Google Play Store, reviews are generally positive, with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 for 502 reviews.
Ryan Moreau does not intend to stop there and is already planning to create another application, but this time for SMS spam. And he hopes to release a video game soon…
