The Game Freak studio which develops Pokémon has been the victim of a major hack.

ENTERTAINMENT – The amount of “secret” information that has leaked already looks sadly historic. Game Freak, a studio which develops, among other things, video games and the expanded Pokémon license, has confirmed that it has been the victim of large-scale computer hacking. Among the data circulating since October 10, a lot of information in principle confidential on future productions linked to Sacha, Pikachu, the Rocket team and company.

The Japanese company issued a press release immediately after realizing the extent of the damage, particularly to its employees. Indeed, a quantity of personal information concerning them is part of the hacked data.

But the stolen lines of code that the most experienced Internet users are struggling to decode are not these. As reported by the specialist site IGN which was one of the first to report the piracy, news concerning the future of the Pokémon franchise has leaked.

On the console side, this is undoubtedly the most sensitive information because the best kept, the hack revealed that the one which would soon succeed the Nintendo Switch and whose look as well as the name were kept secret, bore the name of Ounce, a reference to its apparently lighter weight compared to the Switch. On this console, players will be able to play a 10th generation Pokémon game called Gaiaa game from which some new mystical animals have also been leaked.

New Pokémon game, film and series in the pipeline

Players will also be able to discover, a priori on the Switch only, a new game which had already been announced but whose name was still secret: Pokémon Legends : ZA (Ikkaku). The hack also highlighted the development of a Pokémon multiplayer online role-playing game named Synapse.

Finally, information regarding future films and series derived from the Pokémon universe was also hacked. The existence of a sequel to the film Detective Pikachu (adapted from the video game) released in 2019 with Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds would thus be confirmed, bearing the name The Great Detective Pikachu. LThe filming of a live-action series would also be imminent.

We still don’t know who is behind this piracy on an almost unprecedented scale in the world of video games. The franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995 is one of the most extensive but also the most lucrative in the world of video games and all derivative animated series, games, films, etc. She will celebrate her 30th birthday with great fanfare in 2025, but with a few fewer surprises than expected for fans.
