The game stands out in particular for its strategic turn-based combat, mixed with real-time action phases, offering gameplay that is both thoughtful and dynamic. The captivating artistic direction and story, tackling deep themes like loyalty, sacrifice and the quest for power, are not to be outdone.

The criticism fulfilled

While Metaphor: ReFantasia hits the market alongside highly anticipated titles such as Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero or even successes like Silent Hill 2 Remake et Astro Bothe knew how to stand out and shine in an exceptional way. A real feat, given the fierce competition at the end of the year.

The specialist press welcomed it with rare enthusiasm. On Metacriticit displays a score of 94/100, alongside the biggest titles like Elden Ring et God of War: Ragnarok. Eurogamer gave it a perfect score of 5/5, calling the game a “quintessence of Japanese role-playing games” – a first for this reviewer.
