The Laifen Swift inevitably brings to mind the Dyson Supersonic. The Chinese hair dryer tries to compete with the best with careful temperature control and a motor performing 110,000 revolutions/minute.

Points forts

  • Design and handling.

  • Magnetic tips.

  • Light ring which indicates the chosen temperature.

  • Powerful drying.

Weak points

  • Airflow temperature too low.

  • Diffuser supplied with the device in the Special version only.

Laifen was not an expected manufacturer in the hair dryer market. However, he creates a surprise with his Swift. This device uses the codes democratized by other manufacturers, such as Dreame and Dyson, with an ergonomic design and light weight which make it very easy to store and take. Its control panel is easy to understand and is supported by a very practical light ring, which lights up differently depending on the temperature chosen. Its noise level is controlled, as is its electricity consumption. On the ventilation side, the favorable trend is identical since it is powerful and homogeneous. On the other hand, the temperature is a problem because it is too low and risks slightly slowing down drying. This little problem still maintains the Swift as a hair dryer with very good value for money.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).

An alternative

With the Curl & Straight Confidence, Remington continues its momentum and offers a no-fuss hair dryer. Classic in its design, the device is not the best friend of nomads and prefers to play on its ease of use. With two selectors to choose the temperature and the power of the breath, the controls are intuitive, but are on the other hand poorly made; just like the entire Remington which then retains fingerprints and the slightest shocks on its hull. Whether with or without accessories, the performance of the Remington is a little weak and struggles to place the hair dryer among the best. Drying may not be uniform and some strands may be damp while others will be too exposed to heat.
