Gemini Live: more than 40 languages added, but not ours

Gemini Live is Google’s idea of ”natural, free-flowing conversations” in this new era of generative AI. You can use it for activities like brainstorming, learning, or practicing job interview questions, all in real time, up to two languages at once…but not in Quebecois.

In other words, you will be able to converse in French, but without using expressions specific to our language or our culture.

Only with a Google device, phone or tablet

You can set your favorite languages in Android mobile system. In the Google app, go to Settings > Google Assistant > Languages, and choose your first preferred language. If you want a second one, you can add a language by clicking “Add a language”.

You will need an Android mobile device to use it. Google has not yet announced its intention to bring Gemini Live to the iPhones of its great rival Apple. We understand here that the company wants to attract users to its own mobile platform.

Soon, Gemini Live will be available to Advanced subscribers, allowing them to talk to Gemini in a more natural way. The dialoguer will allow users to speak to Gemini and choose different natural voices, speak at your own pace, interrupt your response mid-way or even ask for clarification.
