Apple Intelligence: much more advanced features for 2026 or 2027

While Apple Intelligence is struggling to come out of its shell, still stuck in beta, the future of the Apple firm’s suite of AI tools is already being talked about.

Via The Street, Edison Lee (via The Street), analyst at Jefferies, first explains that Apple would have a significant advantage over the competition thanks to its hardware/software optimization, which would allow it “exploit proprietary data to offer personalized and inexpensive AI services”.

However, he estimates that we would have to wait until 2026 or 2027 for the hardware part of the iPhone to be capable of “serious” artificial intelligence capabilities. Edison Lee also adds that Apple is ahead in this area compared to Android smartphone manufacturers, “notably because of its partnership with chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor [TSMC]”.

Moreover, rumors point to the arrival of a chip engraved in 2nm for the iPhone 17 Pro (and even more RAM), enough to offer a significant power boost to run more advanced Apple Intelligence features .

The analyst speaks in passing of the demand around the iPhone 16, which according to him should not reach the expected growth of 5 to 10% compared to iPhone 15 sales. He nevertheless emphasizes being confident for the next generation, with in particular the iPhone 17 Air, which “could attract more customers to upgrade”.

Edison Lee then ends by specifying that the AI revolution would wait 2 to 3 years to become a sufficiently advanced technology thanks to the lifting of certain hardware restrictions. We could therefore expect an iPhone 18 or iPhone 19 with the most powerful and innovative Apple Intelligence capabilities.
