Black Shark now offers the GS3, and so all the specifications of the new smartwatch are publicly available. More specifically, the watch is equipped with a 1.43-inch AMOLED touchscreen, itself protected from scratches and damage by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The watch itself is IP69K certified, proving that it is protected against dust damage. According to the manufacturer, the watch is waterproof up to a test pressure of 5 ATM, which means that the Black Shark GS3 can also be worn while swimming.
The equipment includes a GNSS module. This supports not only GPS, but also Beidou, Glonass, Galileo and QZSS, which should enable precise positioning almost anywhere. Navigation is supposedly possible with the help of Baidu Maps. An NFC module is available, allowing contactless payment.
Battery life is claimed to be up to 21 days, although actual battery life is, as usual, highly dependent on your own usage. Heart rate and oxygen saturation can be measured. A pedometer is integrated and sports activities can be tracked. Calls are also possible, but in the absence of its own mobile modem, the GS3 only acts as a Bluetooth headset.
The Black Shark GS3 is currently available in its home market of China at a discounted pre-order price of around $70. No information on a worldwide release is yet available.
