Beyond the pseudo-dramas, it is now difficult to deny that Stellar Blade is a great success at the start of the year. It is the highest rated game by PS5 players of all time (4.93/5), and the majority praise Shift Up’s game (and it’s deserved). It is therefore rather easy to imagine Stellar Blade coming to PC one daylike any good successful PS5 exclusive from Sony.
When, though? We try to think about it by carefully studying previous similar cases.
When can we imagine seeing Stellar Blade coming to PC?
Aside from the very recent exception of Helldivers 2, which was released on PS5 and PC on the same day (February 8, 2024), Most PS5 exclusives take a while to release on PC. The fault first of all is an exclusivity contract from Sony, but also quite simply the time needed for developers to make a PC port that holds up.
When we look at similar cases in recent years, we suspect that Stellar Blade will eventually arrive on PC. But the arrival time is relatively variable. Here are some examples :
- Horizon Forbidden West: Released in February 2022, arrived on PC in March 2024,
- FF7 Remake Intergrade: Released in June 2021, arrived on PC in December 2021,
- God of War: Released in April 2018, arrived on PC in January 2022,
- Returnal: Released in April 2021, arrived on PC in February 2023,
- Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart: Released June 2021, arrived on PC and June 2023.
We also know that the excellent Ghost of Tsushima released in 2020 will arrive shortly, on May 16, on PC, or that Final Fantasy XVI, released almost a year ago, should logically have its PC version complete in the year now that its two DLCs have been released.
In the end, if Shift Up has a PC version of Stellar Blade already ready, we can imagine having it by now early 2025, exclusivity contracts lasting between 6 months and a year. Otherwise, a release for 2026 seems more realistic.
A new game mode to wait by 2026
Its director Kim Hyung-Tae announced very recently, Stellar Blade will benefit a new game mode In the coming months. It will be a Boss Rush Challenge which will challenge you to chain together big boss fights with conditions generally set in advance, a bit like we could get a taste of in the demo.
We do not yet know if it will be the subject of paid DLC or a simple free update. Other DLC could also arrive later given the success that the game is experiencing, despite Hyung-Tae having mentioned before the release of the game that Stellar Blade would not have any. Such success had not been anticipated, and everyone, Hyung-Tae and the players alike, are looking forward to seeing additional content for Eve in the future.
