The Chinese manufacturer Hisense has announced a new television that looks like a painting, in line with Samsung’s The Frame models.

Last January, during CES in Las Vegas, the Chinese manufacturer Hisense unveiled its range of televisions. Alongside the Mini-LED ULED 75UX or 110UX models, the firm also exhibited a model called CanvasTV that looks like a painting.

If Hisense had then remained rather discreet about its availability, refusing to confirm that these televisions would be launched during the year 2024, it is now a done deal. As reported by the site 9to5GoogleHisense confirmed this week the availability of its television and clarified the characteristics and functionalities.

Concretely, Hisense CanvasTV televisions take up the concept of Samsung’s The Frame models, well known for their discretion with a standby mode which allows them to display works of art, a matte coating and borders that look like picture frames.

A 4K QLED panel and two diagonals offered

In a press release published this week, Hisense specifies that its television benefits from a QLED 4K panel and that it will be capable of broadcasting content up to a refresh of 144 Hz with compatibility with ALLM and VRR. It also benefits from a 2.0.2 audio system with two traditional speakers and two vertical speakers, creating an increased immersion effect. Two diagonals will be offered at launch, with a diagonal of 55 inches or 65 inches. In addition, the CanvasTV will be equipped with the Google TV system and will therefore allow you to benefit from its ecosystem of third-party applications.

Above all, in order to create a canvas effect, the television remote control will have an “Art Mode” button to switch to the display of works or personal photographs. This mode will also dim the brightness of the panel using an ambient light sensor and will put the screen in sleep mode if the presence sensor detects that no one is in the room. Customers can also opt for different frames – white or walnut – to better blend in with the decor.

The Hisense CanvasTV will be available at the end of summer in the United States starting at $999 (927 euros excluding VAT). For the moment, no availability has yet been announced for France.
