Unveiled in April 2022, Hell is Us was initially due to be released in 2023, but was ultimately pushed back to 2025, a postponement necessary “to achieve its ambitions”. It was finally during Sony’s State of Play broadcast a few days ago that the title gave its news, and today it is revealed a little more with a big trailer.

It is with a Extended Gameplay that the game of Rogue Factor shines. Jonathan Jacques-Belletete, Creative Director and Art Director of the title, details its main aspects and explains, firstly, that the team has a lot of love for the way games from the 90s were made, and how they were played.

Several sequences are highlighted and the game is intriguing on many points. It notably emphasizes unguided exploration that encourages players to discover the world on their own, without objective markers or a detailed map. You have to listen to the different characters you meet and observe the environment to evolve, while the game is divided equally between exploration and combat.
The game is 50% exploration and 50% combat. It’s not at all just a fighting game and it’s definitely not about wandering around and finding stuff. It’s a combination of both and we also think the way we combined them is quite refreshing and unique.
The title takes place in a fictional country ravaged by a civil war called Hadia. We play Rémy, who tries to find his native village as well as his parents, who abandoned him when he was five years old by smuggling him out of this “hermit state”.
