Honor has published in advance all the technical details and the price of the Honor 200 Lite, its new mid-range smartphone.
It’s launch day for Honor. The Chinese manufacturer is rolling out a new mid-range smartphone on April 25. Its Honor 200 Lite will be available for pre-order from 5 p.m. on the brand’s official website.
Honor has updated the product sheet for the Honor 200 Lite adding all its features and even its price! It is indeed an officialization before its time, we can say.
What is the price of the Honor 200 Lite?
The Honor 200 Lite is priced in France at €329.90. At this price, it comes up against the Honor 70 whose price has dropped to €349.90. There is also the Honor 90 Lite, but this one is outdated throughout if we compare their technical sheets.
As a pre-order bonus, Honor is offering a free pair of Earbuds X5 as well as an Honor Band 9 and a reduction of €30. Also, the Honor 200 Lite only costs €299.90.
If Honor had published photos of its Honor 200 Lite, it had not released any information on its characteristics. A lead coming from the Middle East suggested an adaptation of the Honor X50i+, a model released in China last November.
A rehash of a Chinese Honor
And the technical sheets match. They are indeed the same two devices, with one difference though. For the European market, Honor adopts a different rear photo module. Circular on the Honor X50i+, it is almost reminiscent of a OnePlus. The Honor 200 Lite has a more conventional rectangle which strongly reminds me of the Redmi Note 11 from 2022.
Three sensors (and only one useful?)
Three sensors are housed inside: a wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle also used for depth of field and a macro sensor. On paper and after playing with the new Galaxy A’s from 2024, I am interested in the results of the 108 Mpx main sensor with its large aperture.
I’m more cautious about the ultra wide angle, it’s never very good in this price range. And as for the macro, it’s almost a running gag, the sensor that all manufacturers integrate by default into their mid-range and which too often turns out to be useless.
In short, here are the details of the photo configuration of this Honor 200 Lite:
- 108 MP wide-angle (f/1.75)
- 5MP ultra wide-angle (f/2.2)
- 2MP macro (f/2.4)
So no optical zoom, but a 10x digital zoom. Honor specifies the modes of its photo application: “Photo, video, portrait, night, aperture, multi-video, pro, slow motion, panorama, HDR, time lapse, watermark, super macro, high resolution, story, document scanning, smile capture, etc. »
In video, it supports video shooting up to 1080p, without further details.
At the front, it is a 50 megapixel sensor (f/2.1) which is installed in a pill that you would think was borrowed straight from an iPhone. Moreover, Honor indicates that it is compatible with Magic Capsule, its in-house process which allows you to animate the contours of this black area… like Apple.
The thinnest and lightest in its category
The rest of the design, we have already been able to discover it via the photos posted by Honor. It is rather pleasing to the eye, close to what a Galaxy A35 can offer which plays in the same league. Rounded edges on the corners, but flat. A large screen with a black corner that seems rather small. It doesn’t reinvent anything, but it’s enough to execute its score well to score design points in this price range.
Honor captions her communication with a “ Unique, light, thin and ultra-resistant design ». For robustness, you have to take the word of the 5-star certification by SGS that Honor highlights. For measurements, the technical sheet speaks for itself: 166 grams and 6.78 mm thick. It is better than all its competitors, Galaxy A35, Nothing Phone (2a), Honor 70 and Honor 90 Lite. And its other ratings are also good enough to give us a very good first impression from a design point of view.
Large Amoled screen
Regarding its screen, Honor uses a 6.7-inch Amoled panel. In 20.1:9 format, it displays in Full HD+. Its refresh rate is not specified, but we can count on 90 Hz from its donor, the X50i+. There, the Honor 70 is better with its 120 Hz, but it was more expensive when it was launched.
Barely more powerful than a Xiaomi Redmi Note 13?
Inside, the configuration is based on 8 GB of RAM and a Mediatek SoC, the Dimensity 6080. In France, we have never encountered this chip on a smartphone. According to the benchmarks, it would be a little more powerful than a Snapdragon 685. We saw this one at work in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G and it wasn’t great. A little dated, it allows for smooth navigation, but not without slowdowns and when it comes to games, it forces you to start knitting. Even if it is a bit more efficient, the SoC of the Honor 200 Lite should not spark.
The Honor 200 Lite is 5G compatible and has two nanoSIM card slots. It also has Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1 and a GPS module (GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo). No mention is made of NFC, but it would be surprising if it was not provided.
“Fast” charging at 35 Watts
To power this set, Honor uses a 4500 mAh battery. Honor’s “SuperCharge” is taken into account. It works with a 35 Watt mains adapter, not supplied. In the box, we will find a USB-C cable, a protective film probably reinstalled and an ejector pin.
The Honor 200 Lite is only sold in the 256 GB version. Three finishes are available, including one exclusive to customers of the Honor store: black, cyan and blue (only at Honor).
