A semi-rigid cross-country model, the Trek Procaliber made an impression when its first generation was presented in 2015… The reason? The use of the brand’s IsoSpeed system, namely a vibration filtration system at the seat post, initially developed by Trek for the Domane road bike (with a view to softening the cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix) and which ultimately landed on this Procaliber.

Yet, surprise, Trek has decided to part with this famous IsoSpeed system for this third generation of its cross-country chassis, in order to accommodate IsoBow technology, namely this particular construction of the seat stays and the top tube.

« The IsoBow offers the same advantages as the IsoSpeed, namely a gain in comfort in the seated position, but while being simpler and lighter. In the laboratory, the behaviors are very similar, and our pilots were not able to tell the difference on the ground between the two systems “, explains the brand. Trek takes the opportunity to slip in that the frame of this third generation is announced 200 g lighter than its predecessor (1150 g against 1350 g for the painted frame in size L).

Changes never come alone, the American brand has decided to increase the front travel of this Procaliber to 120 mm (compared to 100 mm previously, and still with the possibility of opting for a 110 mm fork) and to review its geometry dimensions.

Compared to the previous generation, this new Procaliber sees its reach lengthened (445 mm in size M/L), its head angle increases to 67° (against 68.8° previously), while its seat tube is straightened (73.8° where it was 74.3° on the previous one) and its chainstays lengthen to reach 435 mm (+ 3 mm). In addition, the tire clearance is increased to 2.4″, compared to 2.2″ on the old model.

Inherited from the other models in the range, the Procaliber is equipped with a new floating brake caliper support (which pivots with the flex of the suspension) to better isolate the suspension from braking forces. It should also be noted that the Knock Block, a system preventing the handlebars from touching the frame in the event of a fall, has been abandoned by Trek on this model.

Three versions are planned in the brand’s catalog:
