Porto – Manchester United 3:3

Harry Maguire saved Manchester United from another defeat. Coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute, the defender scored with a header from a corner against Porto in added time to make it 3-3. Erik ten Hag’s team had previously lost a 2-0 lead, and Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the 81st minute after receiving a second yellow card. Samu Omorodion (34th/50th) played a decisive role in the Portuguese’s turnaround with two goals. The 20-year-old Spanish striker joined Porto from Atletico in the summer and has since scored 6 goals in all competitions.

Besiktas Istanbul – Eintracht Frankfurt 1:3

Eintracht continued their strong start to the season against Besiktas Istanbul and celebrated a 3-1 win. Omar Marmoush brought the second-placed team in the Bundesliga to victory with a penalty in the 19th minute, and junior Dina Ebimbe doubled the score just three times later. A week ago, the Hessians had blown a two-goal lead at home against Viktoria Pilsen, but this time they did better. For this they could especially thank the 21-year-old goalkeeper Kaua Santos, who played well and also scratched a penalty from Ciro Immobile (27th) from the corner. In the 82nd minute, Ansgar Knauff made the final decision 3-0. Arthur Masuaku only managed a consolation goal for the Turks in stoppage time. The Swiss Aurèle Amenda came on as a substitute for Frankfurt in the 85th minute.

Elfsborg Boras – AS Roma 1:0

In the championship, AS Roma was able to celebrate its first two wins of the season after a slow start. However, the Romans have not yet found their stride on the European stage. After the 1-1 draw at the start against Athletic Bilbao, they even suffered a defeat in the away game in Sweden against Elfsborg Boras. Roma were superior on the field, but failed time after time against the Swedish defensive bulwark. The Swedes’ winning goal came as a result of a hand penalty caused by Tommaso Baldanzi shortly before half-time.

Lazio Rom – Nice 4:1

Lazio Rome once again achieved a clear victory. In the pouring rain, Pedro (20th) took the lead with a powerful shot from the left under the crossbar. Taty Castellanos (35th/53rd) with a brace on his 26th birthday and Mattia Zaccagni (67th) with a penalty shot scored the other goals. Whether Nice keeper Marcin Bulka’s intervention was worthy of a penalty is at least debatable.

Ferencvaros Budapest – Tottenham 1:2

Tottenham met a Hungarian opponent with Ferencvaros for the first time in the club’s history. With Mikey Moore, a 17-year-old also made his starting eleven debut at Spurs. The goals in the 2-1 win were scored by Pape Sarr (23′), who reacted quickly after the home team lost the ball, and Brennan Johnson (86′), who scored his 5th goal in all competitions of the current season. Ferencvaros’ next goal came in the 90th minute.

Hoffenheim – Dynamo Kiev 2-0

After four defeats in a row in the Bundesliga, Hoffenheim managed to break free, at least on the European stage. Czech Adam Hlozek scored both goals in the home win against Dynamo Kyiv. At the start, the Kraichgauers had to be content with a 1-1 draw at FC Midtjylland. The Danes also won their game (2-0 against Maccabi Tel Aviv). Kevin Mbabu was in the starting line-up.

Further results from Thursday:

  • Glasgow Rangers – 1:4
  • Slavia Prag – Ajax Amsterdam 1:1
