Pink October: a second life for radios

Like every year, the Pays de l’Or Agglomeration is committed to the fight against breast cancer on the occasion of Pink October. For more than 20 years, the League against Cancer has been collecting silver x-rays in the Hérault department. Today, it is joining forces with the Pic et Étang Syndicate and the Pays de l’Or Agglomeration to collect these x-rays in the territory’s development centers.

This approach is first of all solidarity since it allows us to participate in the financing of research against cancer and to support support for sick people and prevention. But it is also ecological, because it promotes the recycling of silver x-rays, in particular by the extraction of the silver salts which compose them. The opportunity to reduce the resulting waste.

The device is all the more respectful of the environment as the company selected for the treatment is the only company in which processes silver x-rays, without causing discharge into the sewers. It is possible to deposit them without envelopes or papers in each of the recycling centers in the Pays de l’Or Agglomeration territory. This system is valid throughout the year. For the record, in France, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Detected early, it is generally easier to treat with less risk of after-effects and therefore an increased chance of recovery.
