orange vigilance in the Southern Alps

Météo-France places the departments of Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence on orange avalanche alert from Thursday January 23.

Following the announcement of snowfall on the heights of the Southern Alps massifs, several massifs (Champsaur, Pelvoux, Embrunnais Parpaillon, Ubaye, Haut-Verdon) are placed on level 4 out of 5 vigilance (high risk) .

The Bas-Alpine prefecture has communicated several preventive measures: do not leave open, groomed and marked slopes; assess the risks of off-piste skiing or hiking; be aware that the safety of rescuers will be compromised in the event of an accident.
