It will be difficult to do better than in 2024, the historic year of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in , but the 2025 vintage promises to be full of promise in terms of sport. Here are the 10 events not to be missed:

Handball, Men’s World Cup (January 14 – February 2)

Beaten in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games by Germany, the Blues have the opportunity to make up for it in January. A new generation has arrived after the retirements of emblematic players Timothey N’Guessan, Nikola Karabatic, Vincent Gérard and Valentin Porte. Formula 1 World Championship (from March 16)

In this year of the 75th anniversary of Formula 1, the arrival of Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari will be the event to watch. The first steps of the Frenchman, Isack Hadjar, will also be closely monitored during this season which will start in Australia. The competition will be broadcast on Canal+.

The last two days of the single group stage, from January 21 to 29, promise a spectacle. Bruges, 19th, is only 3 points behind Arsenal, 3rd. The French clubs are all in the running to continue their journey in the competition. is 7th, 8th, Monaco 16th and Paris-Saint-Germain 25th. You will have to finish in the first 8 to reach the round of 16, and the teams placed between 9th and 24th place will go to the round of 16. The final is scheduled for May 31 in Munich. The competition is broadcast on Canal+.

Football, Men’s Nations League (March 20 – July 8)

Winners of Italy, the Blues will play against Croatia in the quarter-finals (March 20 and 23). If they qualify, they will play against the qualified team after the Netherlands – Spain opposition, on July 4, in the Nations League. The next two matches of Didier Deschamps’ selection are broadcast on TF1.

FIFA Club World Cup (June 14 – July 13)

8 groups formed by 32 teams will make up this new format of the competition which will be played in the United States from June 14. Clubs from all continents will be pitted against each other. PSG will face Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético Madrid and Copa Libertadores winner Botafogo, among others. The competition will be broadcast for free on DAZN.

, Tour de France men (July 5 – 27)

The 2025 Tour de France will start from Lille this year. Its arrival will take place on the Champs-Élysées, after a relocation to last year due to the Olympics. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, winner of the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the world championships in 2024. The Tour de France will be broadcast, as usual, on France Télévisions and Eurosport.

World Swimming Championships (July 11 – August 3)

Who says swimming says Léon Marchand, five-time Olympic medalist, including 4 times gold. During the long course world championships in Singapore, the French prodigy will be on everyone’s lips. He said he wanted to try crawling, particularly this year. This competition will be broadcast by France Télévisions.

, Men’s World Cup (September 12 – 28)

Gold medalists at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Blues will try to finish on the highest step of the podium, in the Philippines. They will face the Republic of Korea on September 14.
