It’s done: solid reinforcement for Mechelen, which confirms its Play-Offs 1 ambitions – The latest transfers

First reinforcement for Mechelen this winter. Fredrik Hammar arrives from Hammarby, Sweden.

First reinforcement for Mechelen in this winter transfer window. And, on paper, it looks solid. As we told you about it a few days ago, KaVé found an alternative to Aziz Ouattara, the only defensive midfielder in the core, on loan from Genk. Fredrik Hammar arrives from Hammarby.

The 23-year-old Swede has signed a contract until June 2028. He played 30 games last season for his club and contributed to qualification for the next Conference League (the summer season having ended since the beginning of November in northern Europe).

The defensive midfielder trained at Swedish club IF Bromma before moving to Akropolis. He then had a brief stint at Brentford, England.

First reinforcement of the winter for Mechelen!

Hammar soon returned to his homeland and committed to Hammarby. His coming to Belgium is therefore only his second experience in a foreign club, the first not having really been successful.

“This is a correct and important step in my career. I am ready to start immediately. There was contact between KaVé and my agent last summer. The fact that they came knocking again this winter shows how much they want me to be here,” he told the club’s website.
