The confectioners’ truce is conducive to assessments for sports clubs. At Revel, the USR reveals its impressions of its mid-season journey, and its ambitions for 2025. An update with president Didier Roques.

Just a year ago, the seniors of US Revel and the staff experienced a very special moment: they faced the stars of -Saint-Germain in the 32nd final of the Coupe de . This year, no more cup, since they lost in mid-September against Canet. But, the R1 championship resumes this Saturday, January 11, with the reception of Balma at 4 p.m. at the municipal stadium.

How do you see the recovery for the flag team?

We had two very encouraging last results after the victories against L’Union and Biars. We hope to restart with a victory against Balma.

The first part of the season was turned upside down, after the departure of Nicolas Giné.

We now have a new coach, Johan Rini, who we know very well. Despite his young age, he has a very interesting career. Baziège experienced a rise from R3 to R1 with him. Luzenac finished first in his championship. The ranking is very tight, but we are on good momentum and hope to recover.

Where is the rest of the club?

The reserve team is well placed. They are second at one point with a game in hand. They have had a good start to the season. Teams 1, 2 and U20 represent a good group. The U20s are first and also train with the 2.

What do you think of the results at mid-season?

We went from 400 to 451 licensees, which is positive. We have more and more women, with 25 more licensees compared to the previous season, or 66 in total. We really want to develop women’s football. For now, we have a senior team, U18 and U15.

What are the club’s objectives now?

We have started a 4-year club project, from 2024 to 2028. The objective is to reduce the gap between the reserves and the front page. Last year, the reserve went from D2 to D1, we are aiming for R3. We want young people who are playing at the highest regional level, so that this can be the breeding ground for our seniors.

Anything new to come?

We have put together a file to obtain the excellence label, although we are currently “hopeful”. As a result of working on training, we have many coaches who have graduated from the Football Instructor Certificate. At Revel, we have a beautiful complex, supervision, a sports and educational structure… These are criteria for obtaining this label, but also arguments for bringing in young players.
