Scary images of Jake McCabe

Yesterday was a quiet day in the NHL.

The Canadian – like most other teams – did not have a match on the schedule.

There were only five matches presented across the league:

1: Hoping it’s not too serious…

Matvei Michkov and the Flyers were visiting Toronto to face the Leafs.

In the end, the Russian was unable to help his team win.

Michkov was shut out for the 10th time in his last 11 games and he tried a little fantasy during the game:

I wonder how John Tortorella saw this…

Matthew Knies scored his 15th goal of the season during the match and extra time was needed to determine a winner between the two clubs.

It was Morgan Rielly who played the hero to allow the Leafs to win 3-2:

During the meeting, there is a sequence in particular that is still talking this morning.

Jake McCabe decided to drop the gloves to fight Garnet Hathaway… But the images that follow after the fight are scary, because we see McCabe having difficulty getting up.

We must hope for the defender that it is not too serious:

2: Long live Gibson and Vatrano!

After agreeing on the terms of a contract extension (a la Shohei Ohtani) earlier in the day, Frank Vatrano and the Ducks welcomed the Lightning to Anaheim.

And the striker took the opportunity to prove his bosses right by scoring two goals and collecting an assist.

This one is particularly beautiful:

Vatrano’s effort was enough: the Ducks won 4-1 and thus signed a superb victory against one of the good clubs in the NHL.

The team can also say thank you to John Gibson, who was solid in front of his net by stopping 36 of the 37 shots aimed at him.

He signed his 200th victory in the NHL:

3: A 600th career point for Aho

Sebastian Aho is quite the hockey player.

And we saw it last night, when his club needed a goal to win.

In overtime during the match between the Hurricanes and the Penguins, it was the striker who made the decision to allow his team to win 4-3 against the Pittsburgh team:

The goal is nice, but it’s important because it’s Aho’s 600th career point in the National League.

He is only 27 years old and if he continues to keep the same pace, the plateau of 1000 career points will really be achievable…

4: Another goal in overtime

It seems like it was the fashion yesterday: three of the five matches presented required overtime.

Between the Bruins and Islanders, that’s exactly what happened…

And it was Bo Horvat who scored (his second of the game) for the Islanders to win by a score of 5-4:

This is a victory that feels good for the Islanders… Because things haven’t been going very well for them since the start of the season.

Note that in the defeat, David Pastrnak scored his 16th and 17th goals of the campaign.

He had a slower start, but things are starting to come together for him.

5: Louis Domingue has fun in a rare Rangers victory

The Rangers had no excuses.

They were in Chicago to face the poor Blackhawks… And they took the opportunity to score a rare victory.

The club won in a clear way by a score of 6-2 and in his club’s victory, goalkeeper Louis Domingue had the time of his life.

He stopped 25 of the 27 shots aimed at him… By doing a few tricks in his semi-circle.

The following sequence is funny:

In the victory, Mika Zibanejad collected an assist.

This is his 400th career in the NHL and he joins Victor Hedman and Erik Karlsson in this regard among Sweden’s active players:
