For almost three years now, it has been the armed groups that have ruled the roost in the country. All sectors are affected by this wave of insecurity that has become uncontrollable, including sport. Football can’t even get back on track properly. What should we expect for this year 2025.
In 2024, the Standardization Committee attempted to relaunch the national championship. With the participation of 15 clubs out of 18, since Don Bosco, Violette AC and Arcahaie were unable to participate in this competition called “special championship”. Somehow, she saw the coronation of Real Hope FA against Ouanaminthe. And after having shone on the regional scene, the youngest of the Capois clubs will compete in the Concacaf Champions League.
In addition to this competition, several championships were held in various corners of the country during the summer period. Except that of Léogâne which used to attract positive comments on the web because of its organization. Since gangs rule the roost in Gressier, the AJSL championship did not take place. This news was poorly digested by more than one, especially the players who were used to collecting large sums during this competition. Without forgetting the holding of the Coupe des Doyens in the capital in December.
The year 2025 is already upon us and the situation has not changed. On the contrary, the bandits have annexed many more territories, some of which are difficult to access. The Sylvio Cator stadium is not exempt from the lot. Which suggests that the country will be deprived of new talents. Alas! The young people are left to their own devices and the sun seems to move out of their way.
Everything suggests that the national championship will not be able to resurface, especially with access to national roads, mostly occupied by bandits, which is becoming difficult. And what’s more, it is almost impossible for our teams and clubs to host matches in the country. A very dark picture which forces them to drag their boots everywhere to find land to accommodate their protagonists.
Even the arrival of multinational forces has had no effect on the current security crisis, suggesting that football will not regain its nobility any time soon in the territory so dear to football lovers.
In any case, if the authorities fail to stop the bandits in their tracks, the situation risks getting worse and the future of the sport will be even more threatened.
