All the players left free by Deinze following the bankruptcy have not yet found a buyer. Alessio Staelens has decided to go down a level.
Alessio Staelens (30 years old), son of the former Red Devil Lorenzo Staelens, trained at Cercle de Bruges and who played 21 matches for the Green & Blackremained without a club until now following the bankruptcy of SK Deinze where he had played since 2019.
Staelens was the captain of Deinze, for whom he played 144 matches including 10 this season in the Challenger Pro League. Suffice to say that his profile must have probably made him interested. And yet, the midfielder decided to sign for Amateurs.
Alessio Staelens has indeed signed up for SK Roeselare until the end of the season. Or in… D2 VV, the equivalent of the 4th division. Roeselare, spiritual heir of the Roeselare club which experienced D1 at the time, is leader of D2 VV and seeks to validate its promotion as quickly as possible.
With his 107 matches in the Challenger Pro League, Alessio Staelens will therefore try to help his new colors. “I didn’t want to wait any longer, I just want to get back on the pitch,” declared the player on the official networks of SK Roeselare.
