Last February, the Samoan federation had published on Facebook a call for applications to find a new coacheven though Seilala Mapusua was still in office… Mahonri Schwalger, coach of the scrum until then, had been promoted at the head of Manu Samoa. But, at the end of September, he had been charged with attempted sexual assaultindecent assault, simple assault and attempted rape of a minor under 16 years of age. Released on bail, he was suspended from his duties.
This Monday, Lakapi Samoa announced the resignation of Mahonri Schwalger in a press release. In this same document, the president of the Susuga Tuilaʻepa Lupesoliai Neioti Aiono Saʻilele Malielegaoi federation, his full name, still thanked the coach: “Mase has given his all to our country through the Samoa selection, and his contributions to the team and our rugby community will always be recognized.
