The Los Angeles Kings have placed forward Arthur Kaliyev on waivers. The 23-year-old American recently returned from a broken collarbone suffered during training camp, but has not played an NHL game yet this season.
This personnel movement was to be expected with the returns to play of Trevor Lewis and Trevor Moore fast approaching. The Kings had 15 healthy forwards in practice Saturday.
A 2nd round pick in 2019, 33rd overall, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound winger obtained two points in five games in the American League, having been transferred to the Ontario Reign for conditioning purposes. He has since been left out of the Kings’ last four games.
Kaliyev’s contract will expire at the end of this season and his impact on the salary cap is $875,000.
At the heart of numerous trade rumors in recent years, often related to the Canadiens, Kaliyev had a difficult season last year, with only 15 points in 51 games, after scoring 14 goals and 27 points in 80 games in his rookie season and 13 goals and 28 points in 56 games in 2022-2023.
