Cole Caufield is on fire!
He scored his 21st goal of the season last night against the Avalanche and he helped CH win in Colorado by also scoring a goal in a shootout.
When #13 is in good shape, he is (really) useful for the Canadian:
It is difficult to blame him for anything since the start of the campaign.
The one we nickname “Tit-Cole” in Montreal is ranked 9th among the top scorers in the NHL, but it goes even further than that.
Caufield is also the best in the category of goals scored abroad (15).
He finds himself ahead of guys like Leon Draisailt, Sam Reinhart and Alex Ovechkin in this regard:
There was a comment that came up often during Caufield’s early years in the NHL.
Cole Caufield is good… But we are mainly talking about a useful guy on the power play!
Here, what becomes really interesting is to see the sniper score goals in numerical equality too.
He has seven goals scored with the man advantage, but he also has 14 at five-on-five. It’s good.
His game is more developed (good news for the Canadian) he has also found a way to be more consistent this season. He has 36 points in 39 games, which places him 2nd among the Canadians in scoring behind Nick Suzuki.
In all this, we have to wonder if the leaders of the United States regret the decision not to have selected him for the 4 Nations Tournament.
We know that his small size is probably one of the reasons behind the said decision… But a goal scorer remains a goal scorer, regardless of size.
And Caufield is proving it recently.
