Nils Allègre continues his very good start to the season. At the end of December, he came very close to the podium in Val Gardena, enough to boost him for the future.

After his first World Cup victory during the Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen last year, Briançonnais Nils Allègre had a very good start to the season, systematically ranking in the top 10 and coming close to the podium in Val Gardena at the end of December for only “a hundredth of a second”.

A new, close-touch success that boosts his determination today: “It’s the little frustration that allows for extra soul for the rest of the season,” he reacts.

“Overall, I’m happy with myself in terms of sport, happy with my form and I’m having a lot of fun on the skis.”

Two weeks before the Swiss event in Wenguen and the Austrian stage in Kitzbühel, Nils Allègre is keen to take advantage of an absence of physical pain that is quite rare for the high level. “I have no problems at the moment, knock on wood this year, my fall in Kvitfjell last year in Norway was resolved, I no longer have any after-effects so I’m taking advantage of it.”

The fall of Sarrazin in Bormio, a psychological ball and chain

A rare occurrence, as injuries accumulate this winter. With the most notable: the terrible fall of Cyprien Sarrazin during training on December 27 in Bormio in Italy, on the sidelines of a World Cup stage.

Long-time friend and partner in the French team, Nils Allègre blames the blow: “It’s a reminder that hurts, we have already suffered very heavy things in our team, the fall of Cyprien will remain in a corner out of my head this season and even beyond, he’s our friend.”

And to add: “afterwards we are equipped to surpass ourselves during the race and we will succeed. (…) It is up to us to be united with him, we think of him and his family”.

However, nothing to dampen his passion for skiing. “There are these falls which taint our pleasure of practicing this sport, but we must remember that it is a beautiful sport, the pleasure of sliding and speed, team cohesion. We must embrace it. call back to move forward.”

Nils Allègre who strongly criticized the organization of the race in Bormio, pointing the finger at a track that had been too dangerous for several years already.
