Our Belgian clubs are doing a good job in the European Cup this season. But no one talks about the performance of Berchem Sport.
The Antwerp club Berchem Sport is currently tenth in D2 Amateurs, stuck between Tongeren and Beg en Dal. An anonymous season? This was without taking into account their European journey.
Berchem has the honor of representing Belgian football in the Fenix Trophy, a competition organized by UEFA bringing together amateur clubs from all over Europe.
This season, 16 clubs are fighting for the Grail. Alongside Berchem, we find teams such as FC United of Manchester, Prague Raptors FC, FC Oslo, Venus Bucuresti and Bury FC.
The dream continues
Berchem experienced some evenings of jubilation, like during his two victories against the Welsh at Llantwit Major AFC (7-2 in Antwerp, 0-1 in Wales). And it pays off! The team is qualified for the next round and therefore spends the winter warm.
The next meeting will take place at home, at the Ludo Coeckstadion, on February 20 against BK Skjold, a Danish team based in Copenhagen.
