The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) has announced the reluctant replacement of Syli Local coach Souleymane Camara and his assistant Guillaume Soumah, less than a month before the start of the African Nations Championship (CHAN ) 2024… under constraint from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Qualified on the field at the expense of Guinea-Bissau in the second round of the qualifiers (4-1, 2-1), the Guinea will play the CHAN 2024 (from February 1 to 28) without the architect of his qualification, Souleymane Camara, and his assistant Guillaume Soumah. In question, the non-possession of the diplomas required by the two technicians.
In a press release published this Tuesday on its official website, the Guinean Football Federation (FGF) informed of the notification by CAF of the eligibility criteria for coaches of qualified teams. Selectors must hold a CAF A, CAF Pro license or a Pro license from another confederation, and their assistants must hold a CAF A license or a Pro license from another confederation.
The coach does not have the required diploma
However, coach Souleymane Camara and his assistant Guillaume Soumah do not have the required diplomas, and will therefore be replaced in view of the tournament.
“The Guinean Football Federation, while expressing its satisfaction and sincere congratulations to Coach Souleymane Abedi Camara and his Assistant Guillaume Soumah, will take the necessary measures in collaboration with the National Technical Directorate to comply with the requirements of CAF, while proceeding to the replacement of the two coaches concerned.”
So far, no names have been leaked. However, the trend suggests that orders be given to Mohamed Kanfory Lappé Bangoura and Mamadouba Sylla Gaucher, the only two technicians in the country holding the required licenses, according to the Guinean sports press.
