Tension continues to rise around the cases of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. For the moment not registered by Barça in La Liga, the two players could nevertheless be this Saturday, if the confidence of Barça communicated to the media is confirmed. However, further disillusionment cannot be ruled out and the situation is clear. Otherwise, both players have a clause allowing them to terminate their contract with Barça 24 hours before the close of the winter transfer window, i.e. February 1. For now, they are not considering leaving the club, but Olmo's situation raises complex and unexpected questions.
Barça will not have to pay Olmo's contract
And Mundo Deportivo reveals surprising new information in recent hours. Contrary to what many sources within the club claimed, if Dani Olmo were to terminate his contract, he would not receive his full salary scheduled until 2030. On the other hand, Barça would still have to pay the full 48 million euros agreed upon his transfer from Leipzig, leading to an unforeseen deficit of 40 million euros in the club's accounts for the 2024-2025 financial year. A slate which would still remain much lower than announced.
This potential outcome takes place in a vague contractual context. The federal contract linking Olmo to Barça, validated by LaLiga in August 2024 following the injury of Andreas Christensen, expired on December 31. If the club tried to extend this contract in time, the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) recalled that this required prior authorization from LaLiga. The matter therefore remains more than ever pending.
