Tesla is no longer able to sell these two models globally

In 2024, Tesla experienced a slight slowdown in sales but remains in very good shape. On the other hand, the brand will quickly have to resolve its dependence on its Model 3 and Y, both of which are aging.

Tesla will therefore have lost a bit of ground in 2024 but this was ultimately predictable in a global market which has stalled. Europe is buying fewer electric cars, China has more brands than ever vying for the cake and the United States has been served for a long time by Tesla which is entering a more complex phase in finding new customers. However, the performance is very respectable: 1.77 million vehicles registered worldwide, compared to 1.78 million in 2023. Just think, five years ago, Tesla hardly existed among the car manufacturers. Today, Tesla sells more cars than Audi! But beware of over-dependence on just two models, which are aging.

Where are the S,X and Cybertruck?

At the launch of the brand's first pick-up, Elon Musk announced totally surreal production and sales figures. Reality has largely caught up with the Tesla boss since sales excluding Model 3 and Y are simply anecdotal. Mercedes sells more S-Class and EQS in the year than Tesla's Cybertruck, Model X or Model S. A Together, these three models represented 94,000 sales worldwide in 2024. A drop in the ocean for Tesla which is now only made up of Model 3 and Y with the risk that this represents : by wanting to wait too long to launch a real model with strong industrial potential, Tesla could gradually lose ground in the face of the competition. Or else, the Model 3 and the Y would need to be renewed, but that is not on the agenda. The first was restyled recently and the second will be updated soon.
