“We burned our jokers”: a mixed first half of the season for the Entente Nord Lozère

At the start of 2025, Lilian Condon's men are third in their Regional 2 group B. The coach, however, regrets poor performances at home.

The Entente Lozère (ENL) flag team will return to the field on Sunday January 19, 2025. Before that, an update on the course of Lilian Condon's men.

The first part of the season is mixed. Certainly the Énélistes managed to climb onto the third step of the podium in their group B of Regional 2 (Laura) and continue to put pressure on Sucs-et-Lignon as well as Saint-Paul-en-Jarez, respectively first and second. However, they struggled for a long time at the start of the season. “We are always in the game, there is always something to look for, confides the coach, but we left points that we shouldn't have lost.”

The other senior teams

Team 3 (Departmental 3) finished the first part of the season at the foot of the podium. The reserve team (Departmental 1) remains in third place, only a short distance from second. It remains in the race to rise at the regional level.

Generally speaking, at the level of the entire club and the senior group, the results are positive, both in terms of the squad and the commitment of the players.“, declares satisfied Lilian Condon, the group's referent.

“We no longer have the right to make mistakes”

It must be said that the Lozériens had to adapt to significant losses within the squad with the departure of Mathis Mazaudier, Joris Auriant, compared to last season, and Romain Brunel, during the season.

Despite good results away from home, picking up three points from quality teams, like the current leaders, the green and whites were in great difficulty at home. They have indeed lost valuable points. “We must not get confused during the recovery in February, says Lilian Condon. We blew our jokers. We would be ahead if we had done the job. We no longer have the right to make mistakes.”

FC Moussages in the Cantal Cup

But nothing is yet decided for the Lozériens. In this very homogenous group, no victory or defeat is a foregone conclusion. As we saw last season, Martin Touron's teammates know how to take things in hand in the second half of the season.

After its elimination in the Coupe de and the Laura Cup, the ENL will begin the Cantal Cup, Sunday January 19, against FC Moussages. A competition that the Énélistes intend to play to the fullest and take their revenge on last season even if the stakes are lower. “We have ambition. We are attached to it. We have experience with this cup but if we have to make a choice, the championship will come first..”

Goodbye to Régis Brunel

For this end of the season, the Lozériens will be able to count on the return of Romain Brunel, in midfield, after several months of absence. The ENL also bids farewell and warmly thanks Régis Brunel, after his long years of service, a committed player still loyal to the club, who leaves the team following a series of injuries in recent seasons.
