Jorge Sampaoli would like Stade Rennais to offer him Mattéo Guendouzi (Lazio Rome) this winter.
Clearly, Jorge Sampaoli would like to repatriate his former OM players to Rennes. And for good reason, as revealed this Friday by RMC Sport, the new coach of Stade Rennais would have liked to recruit Valentin Rongier during this winter transfer window. But the Marseille club would have been categorical about the future of the former Nantes player: he will stay in Marseille this winter.
Sampaoli also thinks of Guendouzi
After Valentin Rongier, it is Mattéo Guendouzi that Jorge Sampaoli would target to strengthen his midfield. Information released this Friday afternoon by Mohamed Toubache-Ter. “The real profile sought by Jorge Sampaoli is that of Mattéo Guendouzi, in an ideal world where the planets would align perfectly…”, revealed the insider on X.
Mattéo Guendouzi, whom Jorge Sampaoli had under his command at OM during the 2021-2022 season, has been playing for Lazio Rome for a year and a half. Under contract until June 2028 with the Roman club, the French midfielder is estimated at no less than 32 million euros by the Transfermarkt website. The Rennes leaders, who have already spent 20 million euros to recruit Seko Fofana this winter, will therefore have to break the bank if they want to offer Mattéo Guendouzi to Jorge Sampaoli.
