Patrick Roy is known for withdrawing his goalkeeper at different times than others. But today he pushed the note.
While his team is doing badly this season and all solutions must be on the table, the King of New York decided to remove his goalie during a faceoff… in the defensive zone.
You heard correctly.
The Maple Leafs led by a goal with about forty seconds left and they were on the power play. Roy, wanting to go there immediately hail mary hockey, therefore decided to act.
We saw the Islanders lose the faceoff, be aggressive… and give up a goal.
This means that the Islanders lost by a score of 3-1. Roy’s strategy didn’t work and even though he knew he might get burned, he still looked… perplexed.
It couldn’t have been pleasant in the locker room afterwards.
The way things are going for the Islanders, it will be increasingly difficult to dig themselves out of the hole. The club doesn’t have a good future and the present isn’t exactly bright either.
At the time of writing this paper, here is the ranking in the East.
Will Lou Lamoriello, who is not exactly known for his patience, get bored by changing coaches? The thing to do, in fact, would be to rebuild… but does Lamoriello want to get into that at that age?
Let’s see what awaits the Islanders.

– The next two weeks for the Islanders will not be easy.
