Fanny Smith convalescing after a violent collision with Saskja Lack in Arosa, Switzerland was able to count on its reserve leader in Innichen this Friday. In Italy, Talina Gantenbein had an excellent race only to be beaten in the final by the German Daniel Maier. Faster during qualifying the day before, the Grisonne climbs to her 7th podium in the World Cup. Until now, however, she had only managed 3rd places. She thus achieved the best result of her career at 26 years old. Frenchwoman Marielle Berger Sabbatel completes the podium.
The other Swiss at the start, Nathalie Schär was eliminated in the semi-finals and finally took 7th place. Here too, this is the best result in the World Cup for the 24-year-old Saint-Galloise, who had never done better than 14th.
Alex Fiva kicks in finale
On the men's side, Alex Fiva had bad luck in the Mecca of skicross. After having a timid start in the final, the Grison was in the game almost throughout the race. But a fault on the inside brought him to the ground and he finally had to settle for fourth place in an event won by the German Florian Willsmann ahead of the Frenchman Youri Duplessis Kergomard and the Austrian Johannes Aujesky.
Tobias Baur finished in 6th place, while Ryan Regez, Marc Bischofberger and Romain Détraz were eliminated in the round of 16.
A second race is on the program on Saturday in Trentino. Fanny Smith could make her return.
