The Hakim Ziyech soap opera in Galatasaray seems to be coming to an end. The Moroccan international, on bad terms with the Istanbul club, would have clearly expressed his intention to pack up this winter. Where will the talented attacking midfielder bounce back? Several avenues are already emerging, in Europe and beyond.
A return to the Netherlands, to Ajax Amsterdam, where Ziyech played, is being considered. Greece, with Olympiakos and Panathinaikos, is also among the potential destinations. French Ligue 1 and Benfica Lisbon are also cited as possible options.
According to information relayed by the Turkish press, Benfica has even already sent a concrete offer to the player via his agent. At the same time, clubs in the Persian Gulf, notably Al-Arabi in Qatar, are said to be closely interested in the experienced profile of the Moroccan international.

This announced departure comes in a context of strong tensions between Ziyech and Galatasaray. The player has publicly expressed his regret over his choice to join the Turkish club, describing the current situation as a stalemate. Harsh criticism of coach Okan Buruk was also reported. “I have never seen a coach of such a low level as Okan,” Ziyech was quoted as saying.
Arriving at Galatasaray in 2023 from Chelsea, Ziyech had a mixed first season. Despite winning the title of Turkish champion, injuries and adaptation difficulties disrupted his career. His contract, which runs until 2025, includes an automatic extension clause depending on his playing time. However, the club's management no longer seems inclined to keep the player.
