Latifah Abdu has decided to continue her career with the Montreal Roses FC of the Northern Super League, a six-club Canadian professional circuit which will launch its inaugural season in the spring.
Earlier this fall, the Roses announced the hiring of 27-year-old goalkeeper Gabrielle Lambert and 34-year-old French midfielder Charlotte Bilbault.
“Joining a new project, at home, is an exceptional opportunity both on a sporting level and on a human level,” Abdu said in a press release on Tuesday. My short-term objective: to continue my progress on the pitch and bring as much as possible to my city and the club.
“Immense potential”
The 23-year-old has already caught the attention of Canadian officials, having attended the under-17 training camp and being part of the senior national squad last year.
“Latifah embodies unwavering determination, remarkable speed and immense potential,” described Roses sporting director Marinette Pichon.
“From the beginning of the project, I met a committed player, who believed in the team long before everything took shape. His speed, his precise crosses and his ability to create opportunities on the pitch will make the difference. Combative and driven by a strong collective spirit, Latifah will strengthen the team’s dynamic, while bringing her versatility, both in attack and defense,” added the French legend, one of Abdu’s inspirations, just like Christine Sinclair. .
Marinette Pichon will be the sports director of the Montreal team of the Super Ligue du Nord, a new Canadian professional women’s soccer league.
