A regional consultation meeting was held on Wednesday in Casablanca, in preparation for the 2nd National Conference on Advanced Regionalization, which will be held on December 20 and 21 in Tangier, under the theme “Advanced regionalization, among today’s challenges today and tomorrow.”

In a speech for the occasion, the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, governor of the prefecture of Casablanca, Mohamed Mhidia, indicated that the advanced regionalization project represents a strategic choice which enjoys the High Royal Solicitude, specifying that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has constantly insisted on the need to implement this project in an optimal manner, in favor of sustainable and integrated development.

In this regard, he noted that the achievements achieved are the fruit of a long process punctuated by several flagship actions, notably the adoption of the 2011 Constitution, which gave the regions a central place by consecrating them as the engine of territorial development and cornerstone of the territorial organization of the Kingdom.

Mr. Mhidia invited the participants in this consultation to enrich the debates with their interventions and proposals, by drawing the best from field experiences, with a view to preparing recommendations to be proposed to the National Conference.

For his part, the President of the Council of the Casablanca-Settat Region, Abdellatif Maazouz, indicated in a statement to MAP that the National Conference is structured around axes which benefit from particular attention from the regional councils, noting that these axes also converge, in all their components, with the content of the development program for the Casablanca-Settat region.
