Artturi Lehkonen scored with 4:22 left in the game and the Colorado Avalanche came from behind to defeat the Sabers 5-4 on Tuesday in Buffalo.

Nathan MacKinnon had two goals and an assist for the Avalanche, who erased a four-goal deficit by hitting the target four times in the third period. Joel Kiviranta and Logan O’Connor also scored in the win.

In his first game in an Avalanche uniform, Scott Wedgewood was perfect on 22 shots after replacing Alexandar Georgiev in the first period. Georgiev surrendered four times in eight shots.

Wedgewood was acquired from the Nashville Predators last weekend in a trade involving backup goaltender Justus Annunen.

The Avalanche overcame a deficit of four or more goals for the fourth time in their history. The last time was last March, when they won 5-4 in overtime against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Tage Thompson scored two goals for the Sabres, who are 0-3-1 in their last four outings. JJ Peterka and Beck Malenstyn also found the back of the net.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen allowed five goals on 43 shots in a losing cause.

Lehkonen’s winning goal came after Luukkonen stopped a Calvin de Haan point shot. Lehkonen jumped on the return to beat the goalkeeper between the pads.
