CAN 2025 qualifications completed, Afrik-Foot offers you an overview of the teams that remained undefeated throughout the campaign.
On the 24 qualified for CAN 2025there are nine teams who have not tasted defeat during the playoffs. They all share a common denominator: having finished first in their respective groups. Only pool D, where the leader, the Nigeriawas beaten by Rwanda (1-2) on the final day on November 18, is the exception.
Morocco (Group B)
Host country of the final phase, the Morocco was therefore automatically qualified. But the Atlas Lions did not rest on their laurels. It is the only team to have won all its matches. Which testifies to the state of mind of Walid Regragui and his foals. The Atlas Lions can also boast of having the biggest attack of the campaign with 26 goals scored, far ahead of Algeria and South Africa tied with 16 pawns.
Cameroon (Group J)
The performance of Cameroon is to be highlighted, given their journey strewn with pitfalls (disturbances due to the imbroglio around the staff). Despite external problems, the coach Urgent Mark and its Indomitable Lions enforced logic ahead of Zimbabwe, second qualifier from Group J, Kenya and Namibia.
Algeria (Group E)
With 16 points taken out of 18 possible, Algeria is the second best performance of these qualifiers tied with Senegal. Apart from the draw and tasteless result against Equatorial Guinea on the penultimate day (0-0 on November 14), the Greens won all their matches. Result: they will be at the CAN as seeded with the mission of restoring their image after two eliminations in a row in the first round.
Senegal (Group L)
Having started timidly with a draw at home in the clash against Burkina Faso (1-1), the Lions of Senegal did not drop any more points. And this, despite the surprise departure of the emblematic former coach Aliou Cissé, which occurred at the dawn of the October international break. They took the opportunity to enforce logic by dominating the Burkinabè on the return leg (0-1) on November 14.
Egypt (Group C)
Without his superstar Mohamed Salah left to rest, Egypt ended its campaign with two draws, against Cape Verde and Botswana, with the same score of 1-1. Being an integral part of the first eight qualifiers, the Pharaons had won all their matches before that. Eliminated in the round of 16 at the last CAN, they will aspire to take their revenge.
Angola (Group F)
Back at the forefront for a few months, and his quarter-final at CAN 2023, Angola confirmed in these qualifiers by imitating the Egyptians. Namely, achieve 100% victory during the first four days to string together two draws (1-1 against Ghana and 0-0 against Sudan) at the end.
South Africa (Group K)
Third in the CAN last February, South Africa held its place without really trembling against Uganda, Congo and South Sudan (4 victories, 2 defeats).
Mali (Group I)
Like Egypt and South Africa, the Mali totals four successes for two draws. The Eagles performed at a slow trot (4 goals in 5 matches) before ending with a cannonball and a 6-0 victory on the final day against Eswatini (6-0) on November 19.
Comoros (Group A)
With three successes for as many draws, the Comorosremained on two draws in as many opening days, before the breakthrough against Tunisia in the double confrontation (1-0 victory followed by a 1-1 draw) in October (3rd and 4th days). The two triumphs against Gambia (1-2) and Madagascar (1-0) coupled with the missteps of the Tunisians in front of the Gambian Scorpions (0-1) allowed the Coelacanths to overtake the Eagles of Carthage to finish in the lead.
