As part of the 15th day of the Super League, Basel and Xherdan Shaqiri were the misfortune of Servette FC. At Parc Saint-Jacques, the Basel player scored a hat-trick, including 2 goals in added time, to lead his team to a 3-1 victory. In the standings, Basel takes the lead on equal points with Lugano but a better goal difference while Servette is now 3 points behind its evening opponent and the Luganese.

Shaqiri was the big man in this duel at Parc Saint-Jacques. The number 10 was in all the good offensive moves of his team, which was however often pushed around by the Genevans. Servette perhaps deserved more in this part, but the visitors faltered at the conclusion. Only Timothé Cognat found the opening, after a delivery from Jérémy Guillemenot (55th).

Author of the 1-0 in the 40th minute on a free kick for which he has the secret, Shaqiri made the difference in stoppage time. He saw his penalty in the 91st minute being repelled by Jérémy Frick, but the former international appeared to give his own the advantage. Shortly after, he scored number three again.
