The big Belgian clubs could be tempted to sign Chancel Mbemba in January. Indeed, the Congolese defender is authorized to leave Olympique de Marseille.
Mbemba will leave OM
In recent years, the 30-year-old was an indisputable starter. But since last summer and a disagreement with his management, the former Anderlecht defender is no longer authorized to play with the first team.
Entering his last year of contract, the Congolese is therefore looking for a new challenge. According to l’Equipe, Montpellier recently tried it, but Mbemba was not keen on the idea of joining the current bottom of Ligue 1. Brest would also be interested and could take action this winter.
Anderlecht or Bruges?
A return to Belgium is also possible. Anderlecht are looking for a new central defender and Mbemba has never hidden his love for RSCA. Bruges, which could lose Joel Ordonnez this winter, could also be tempted to sign the OM defender. Whatever happens, things should move quickly for the Congolese international.
Course
Mbemba began his professional career at Anderlecht (2011-2015). He then played at Newcastle (2015-2018), FC Porto (2018-2022) and OM (2022-…).
