Author of 85 points during the last regular season, Roman Josi obtained 1207 votes against 1864 for Quinn Hughes (92 points in the regular season). He was placed 12 times in first place by media representatives who participated in the vote, while the 24-year-old American defender obtained 172 first places.

The NHL’s other major individual awards were also handed out Thursday in Las Vegas. The big winner is Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon (140 points in the regular season), named best player of the season by journalists (Hart Trophy) and by his peers (Ted Lindsay Award).

Partnering with Philipp Kurashev in the Chicago Blackhawks’ first offensive trio, prodigy Connor Bedard was, as expected, voted “rookie” of the year. The trophy rewarding the best goalie is also in the hands of Winnipeg’s last defender Connor Hellebuyck.
