This Friday took place the draw for the main draws of Wimbledon. With the exception of Diane Parry, who will challenge former world number 1 Naomi Osaka in the first round, the French women are rather well off. Among the men, Corentin Moutet, Maxime Janvier and Constant Lestienne will have a hard time facing three seeds.

With the qualifications now over, the draw for the main draws of Wimbledon 2024 took place this Friday. While the London Grand Slam will not offer the public a match of the magnitude of Nadal-Zverev in the first round, as at Roland-Garros, several matches promise to be interesting. While the French women and men were rather well off, Diane Parry, Corentin Moutet, Maxime Janvier and Constant Lestienne are the big losers in this draw since they will face respectively Naomi Osaka (former world number 1), Alex De Minaur (seeded No. 9), Zhizhen Zhang (No. 32) and Lorenzo Musetti (No. 25).

Caroline Garcia could meet Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals

Five French women are competing in the main draw of Wimbledon 2024 and all have inherited an affordable draw with the exception of Diane Parry. The current world number 53 will challenge Naomi Osaka, former world number 1. Despite everything, there are reasons for hope for Parry since the grass is not the favorite surface of Osaka, who has never done better than a third round at Wimbledon.

On the side of Caroline Garcia, French number 1, Anna Blinkova will be on the program for the first round. The Frenchwoman has not played a single match on grass this season but she will face a player within her reach even if she comes off a good week in Bad Homburg (Germany) with a defeat in the quarter-final. If Caroline Garcia succeeds in stringing together victories, she could find Jelena Ostapenko (13th in the WTA) in the round of 16 and, above all, Iga Swiatek, world No. 1, in the 1/8 final. The Pole will compete in the first round among the women as she will face Sofia Kenin, former winner of the Australian Open in 2020.

Oceane Dodin (FRA) – Daria Snigur (UKR)

Lesia Tsurenko (UKR) – Varvara Gracheva (FRA)

Naomi Osaka (Japan) – Diane Parry (FRA)

Eva Lys (ALL) – Clara Burel (FRA)

Two 100% French matches and a France-Belgium in the first round

In the men’s competition, Carlos Alcaraz will try to retain his title acquired in 2023 against Novak Djokovic in an anthology final on the London grass. The Spaniard is in the same draw as Jannik Sinner (world No. 1) who he could therefore face in the semi-final before potentially meeting Novak Djokovic in the final, the Serb being present less than a month after his meniscus operation.

On the French side, there are 13 players in the main draw. Two of them are seeded, namely Ugo Humbert (No. 16) and Adrian Mannarino (No. 22). Humbert could meet Carlos Alcaraz (world No. 3) in the 1/8 finals while Mannarino could challenge Daniil Medvedev (world No. 5) at the same stage of the competition.

Of the 13 French people in the running, all will have an affordable first round with the exception of three of them. Corentin Moutet should have a hard time getting rid of world number 9, Alex De Minaur. Maxime Janvier and Constant Lestienne will challenge two top seeds performing on grass this season, namely Zhizhen Zhang (N°32) and Lorenzo Musetti (N°25).

Four French people will face off in two 100% tricolor duels with the tempting Gaël Monfils – Adrian Mannarino and the promising Alexandre Müller – Hugo Gaston. Finally, as a nod to Euro 2024 football which is currently taking place in Germany, Arthur Cazaux will challenge the Belgian Zizou Bergs in a match which could be scheduled this Monday as the round of 16 of the Euro France-Belgium .
