After the inaugural team time trial won by the Team Jayco AlUla The night before, it’s time for the 2nd stage of the Tour of Slovakia this Thursday, traced between the cities of Nitra et Hawthorn over 192 km. At the end of a hilly course in the middle of the stage but flat in its final part, it was unsurprisingly a grouped peloton which presented itself at the foot of the short bump (700 meters at 6.7%) at the summit of which the finish was judged. An explosive finale for punchers who smiled on Anders Foldager ! Polka dot jersey on his back, the young Dane managed this brutal effort perfectly to offer the Team Jayco AlUla his second success in two days, landing at the same time, at the age of 22, his very first bouquet among professionals.

No second success in 2024 for Julian Alaphilippe

Julian Alaphilippe in the match but at the foot of the podium

The winner of the 1st stage of Tour of the Future 2023 ahead of the Belgian by several lengths and even a second on the line Jenno Berckmoes (Lotto Dstny) and the recent double champion of Slovakia Luke Cabbage (Elkov-Kasper), who confirms his current excellent form. Small disappointment for the star of the event Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal Quick-Step), who failed at the foot of the podium with a finish that perfectly suited his explosive qualities. Behind this quartet, the peloton arrived fragmented with numerous breaks, with only the first 20 riders being classified six seconds behind the winner of the day. The latter, classified at the same time as his teammate and wearer of the yellow jersey Max Walscheidlogically delights the leader’s tunic at the‘German.
