The stage of the federal circuit called Tournée des As scheduled for Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1, 2024 at the Pôle International du Cheval Longines-Deauville is postponed to the weekend of December 14 and 15, 2024, i.e. two weeks later. The reason? Equine rhinopneumonia.
The polo tournament scheduled for Saturday November 23 and Sunday November 24, 2024 is canceled.
In recent days, RESPE, the epidemiological surveillance network for the equine industry, has received several reports of suspected cases of equine rhinopneumonia in its nervous and respiratory forms in adjoining departments.
Equine rhinopneumonia is an extremely contagious viral infection.
Prioritize the health and well-being of horses and ponies
“Following the meeting on November 19 with all veterinary and federal experts, our priority and our responsibility are to prioritize the health and well-being of horses and ponies,” explains the Longines-Deauville International Horse Center in a press release. “Given this health context, in agreement with the French Equestrian Federation, we have made the decision to postpone the TDA which had 1,400 participants from all over France. The program remains unchanged. And added: “This decision aims to protect the participants in the competition, and all the horses on the site and in Normandy, land of horses”.
The Tournée des As is a circuit of excellence in show jumping created by the French Equestrian Federation (FFE) and reserved for riders aged 18 and under, associated with D ponies (Editor’s note: of size between 1, 41m and 1.48m).
